Recoloring Maxis Paintings - the easy way
This is veeery easy, I promise
All you need is a graphics program (I use GIMP),
SimPE, and the SimPE Photo Studio templates, which can also be found at the main SimPE site.
1. Open SimPE.
2. Click Tools / Object Creation / Photo Studio
3. Photo Studio will load the templates
Then you are here:
4. Select the Tempate you want to use for your painting
For this tut, I will use the "Surfing The Universe" poster.
5. Open your image file be clicking the "Open" button.
Your final recolor will look best if your image is exactly the size of the template mesh, for my poster it's 256x435, as you can see. So before I started this, I cropped and resized the image to make it fit.
If you check "Preview", you'll see how your painting will look in game.
Notice that it's flipped?
Uncheck "Flip Image". Now it looks better!
6. Click "Create" and save the file to your downloads folder.
Voila, a new painting for your game! XD
You probably noticed that Photo Studio does not have all Maxis templates, and of course no custom ones. But you can download more, mts2 has a couple
